Muscle Stimulation
Masters Medical supplies a range of portable muscle stimulators for patients requiring muscle strengthening and retraining. Many patients only require the stimulator for a short period while they are undergoing rehabilitation- hence we offer a rental service.

Muscle stimulators are technically TENS machines. That is, muscle stimulators work by generating an electrical pulse and stimulating motor nerves through the skin causing the muscles, supplied by those nerves, to contract. The difference between a normal TENS machine and a muscle stimulator is that the muscle stimulator generally provides a stronger stimulation and has additional controls to allow relaxation in between stimulation induced contractions. The later is important to prevent rapid fatiguing of the muscle. Clinical muscle stimulators may have other controls such as the ability to program and store different setting and having the channels working with or against each other.

We supply about 6 different models of muscle stimulators. This internet page lists just three. ( see mstim2.htm - comparison chart for a few muscle stimulators)

Your physiotherapist is the best person to start you on an appropriate treatment program.
